Privacy Policy

I did has no accounts, no ads and no data brokers. Your goals, your dids and your photos live on your device and — if you turn iCloud on — in your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. This page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- We never ask for your name, email or phone number. There is no sign-up.
- Your dids, goals and photos are stored on your device. We have no copy.
- With iCloud on, they also sync to your private iCloud container — Apple holds it, we cannot open it.
- The AI coach runs entirely on your phone. Nothing you write is sent anywhere to generate a suggestion.
- We collect anonymous product analytics (which screens get used) — never the text of a did, never a photo.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data. There are no advertisers here.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in the app is written to local storage on your phone: your goals, every did, the photos you attach as proof, your flame history, your display name and your settings.
If you delete the app, that local copy goes with it.
iCloud sync
When you are signed into iCloud, the app syncs your data to a private CloudKit container tied to your Apple Account. This is Apple's infrastructure, and the private database is readable only by you. The developer of I did has no access to it and cannot retrieve, inspect or restore your dids.
Apple's handling of that data is covered by Apple's own privacy policy. You can stop the sync at any time by signing out of iCloud or disabling iCloud Drive for I did in the system settings.
Together goals
A together goal is shared through Apple's CloudKit sharing. When you invite someone, they can see that goal, the dids logged against it, the photos attached to them, and the cheers and nudges exchanged. Nothing else you keep in the app becomes visible to them.
You choose who to invite, and you can stop sharing or leave a shared goal at any time from the goal screen.
The on-device coach
The coach that suggests today's smallest next action runs as a language model on your phone. Your goals and dids are used as its input locally and never leave the device for this purpose. Downloading the model fetches model weights only — it uploads nothing.
Analytics
We use Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service, to understand which parts of the app are used and where people get stuck. Events are anonymous and aggregated: a screen was opened, a notification was tapped, a goal was created.
What is never sent: the text of a did, a photo, a goal title, your name, your email, your IP address, an advertising identifier or any persistent identifier that could follow you across apps.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous customer identifier generated by the app and the purchase receipt issued by Apple — enough to answer 'is this subscription valid', and nothing more.
Notifications
Reminders and nudges are scheduled locally on your device. Push notifications for together goals are triggered from data already synced through your own iCloud container. We do not run a server that holds your device token for marketing.
Photos and the camera
The camera and photo library are used for one thing: attaching proof to a did. The image is stored with that did, in the same places the did is stored. It is not uploaded to us and not analysed.
Your controls
- Export everything — Settings → Your data → Export all. You get a JSON file with every goal and every did.
- Erase everything — Settings → Your data → Erase all data. This wipes the local database and the records in your private iCloud container.
- Stop analytics — deny or revoke the app's tracking-related permissions in system settings; the app functions unchanged.
- Delete the app — removes the local copy. Erase all data first if you also want the iCloud records gone.
Children
I did is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the updated date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here before it takes effect.
